Justice Bernardo L. Salas

The “Court of Appeals Achievement Award” is the highest award given to retiring CA Justice for integrity, competence and efficiency, and for the zero-backlog achievement. Less than 10 Justices so far have received this prestigious recognition. Associate Justice Bernardo Lloren Salas is one of these select few, and the only Boholano to be given the distinction. Bernardo Lloren Salas was born in Jagna, Bohol and is married to Ma. Lourdes Caseñas, an educator and Fulbright Scholar. They were blessed with four highly competent children.

He was a Division Engineer for the Visayas, Bureau of Highways and Senior Official of the Philippine Reparation Mission to Tokyo, Japan. He finished his early education at the Jagna Elementary School and Central Visayan College. He took up Law at MLQ University and passed the Bar with a rating of 88.54%. He finished the academic subjects for Master of Laws at the Lyceum of the Philippines. He commenced his long years in government service as Special Attorney of the Office of the General Council of ACCFA. He was also the Provincial Fiscal of surigao del Norte and a CFI Judge of Baybay, Leyte, Branch VII; Davao City, Branch XVII; and Cebu City, Branch VIII where he was also appointed as RTC Judge. That year, he a promoted to Associate Justice of the Court of appeals, and faithfully served the country until his retirement on September 16, 2000. Augmenting his capabilities were countless seminars, conferences and workshops since 1968, a confirmation that professional advancement is a never ending process. Attesting to his capabilities were the awards and recognitions he received in his years of dedicated service.
