Known as the Father of TBTK, Dr. Nick was born in Loon, Bohol. He had his primary education at the Loon Central Elementary School and spent his high school years at the Sacred Heart Academy, after which he took a Liberal Arts course at the then Divine Word College. He finished his Pre-Medical course and medical degree at the Far Eastern University in Manila. He was Resident Physician in Surgery at the Surigao Provincial Hospital. It was there that he met his wife, a registered nurse. After a few years of marriage, the couple decided to migrate to the United States.
Though self-review and internship at the Catholic Mercy Medical Center, Dr. Lopez was able to secure a certification from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates. For three years, he was Resident Physician of the Catholic Mercy Medical Center in Philadelphia. In the next two decades, he was Emergency Room Specialist in New Jersey and Pennsylvania Hospitals. A member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, he was also an officer of the Filipino Doctors Association of Philadelphia. With a passion to serve not only to those in need of his medical expertise, Dr. Lopez was elected fourth President of the Confederation of Boholanos in USA and Canada or CONBUSAC. He was the only one who was reelected to the same position. It was in this time that he realized that many Boholanos want to give back to their native province. The confederation started its first medical mission, with Dr. Ramie Cadag and Dr. Pepe Recitas among the prime movers. This mission became an annual event up to the present, helping a great number of Bohol residents through free medical-surgical and dental services with helping hands from Boholanos abroad.
