Dr. Escalona got his bachelor degree at Velez College and doctoral degree at Cebu Institute of Medicine. He is married to pediatrician, Dr. Ligaya Dumadag Escalona. They both had their clinics at A La King building across Chong Hua Hospital where he finished training as a General Surgeon and started his surgical practice in 1986.

He took the challenge of a bakery business in Bohol and opened two stores in 1991. In 2006, the Bread’s Edge Corporation was conceived owning more than 15 stores in Bohol. The name was based on the EDGE as an acronym for Ecology Development as God Espoused. As bread is the core business, BEC is sustaining and supporting human resource development through employment, housing, education, environment preservation, and protection.
